Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost has been elected Pope! He took the papal name Leo XIV. He is the very first American Pope. This is a historic moment for our Church and the United States of America!
White smoke rises from the Sistine Chapel on Day 2 — Habemus Papam (We have a Pope)! We thank the Holy Spirit for guiding the Cardinals and our new Holy Father, who has humbly accepted this sacred responsibility. Soon, we will meet him and receive his first blessing, Urbi et Orbi (To the City and to the World).
