St. Paul the Apostle Parish will be concluding their Pilgrimage At Home with a Marian Procession this evening at 5:30, the Vigil of the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The 15th Annual South Portland Food Cupboard and St. Maximilian Kolbe 5K Road Race and Free Kids Fun Run will be on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Over the years, this race has raised thousands of dollars for the Food Cupboard, which feeds hundreds of families in South Portland and Scarborough. Bishop James Ruggieri has announced three new priest assignments effective September 1, 2025.
Reverend Patrick Finn has been appointed part-time parochial vicar of St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Westbrook. Fr. Finn will continue as chaplain for Saint Joseph’s College of Maine in Standish, where he was appointed in August of 2024.

The Parish of St. John Vianney completed their novena celebrations for the 100th anniversary year of Vianney’s canonization this past Tuesday. There was a special Mass with multiple priests present, followed by Exposition/Benediction, final prayers and reflections and a cake to celebrate.

This Friday, August 8, at 5:30 p.m. there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony for St. Peter’s Grotto at St. Peter’s Church in Portland. Bishop Ruggieri will join members of St. Peter’s Parish to open the new grotto and kick off this year’s Italian Bazaar!

Almost 50 teens from Bangor and Lewiston traveled to the Steubenville East Conference in Massachusetts this past weekend. This was a three-day weekend of encounter, conversion and community, focused on helping teens grow in faith.
Fr. Matthew also got involved in an arm wrestling competition.

St. Anthony Parish in Jackman had several visitors last weekend! Sisters from St. Joseph of Lyons, France joined Bishop Ruggieri and the parishioners for a lunch gathering after mass this past Sunday. The cross shown in the group photos originally came from a school that the sisters had started in Jackman.
