  • On Friday evening, Bishop James Ruggieri confirmed nearly 50 Catholic teenagers and adults during a Mass at Holy Martyrs Church in Falmouth. Those receiving the sacrament represented 13 parishes along with St. Joseph’s College Maine of Maine. This was the first of four teen and adult confirmations in the diocese this spring.

  • Children at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish in East Millinocket participated in a Palm Sunday retreat. The children made resurrection rolls, reenacted the Last Supper, including washing each other’s feet, venerated the cross, and told Jesus that they were sorry for their sins.

  • Bishop James Ruggieri will celebrate a Memorial Mass for Pope Francis on Wednesday, April 30, at 6 p.m. at the Basilica of Ss. Peter & Paul in Lewiston. All are invited to attend. It is the pope who grants the status of a basilica to certain churches, so basilicas have a connection to the papacy.

  • Bishop James Ruggieri will celebrate a Mass for the Repose of the Soul of Pope Francis on Wednesday, April 23, at 6 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 307 Congress Street in Portland. All are invited to attend the Mass to pray that the eternal rest be grant unto Pope Francis and that the perpetual light shine upon him.
