Pope Leo XIV is calling us to observe Aug. 22 – the commemoration of the Queenship of Mary – as a day of prayer and fasting for peace and justice, particularly in Ukraine and in the Holy Land.
“Mary is the Mother of the faithful here on earth and is remembered as the Queen of Peace,” the Pope said.
As wars continue to devastate our world especially in the Holy Land and Ukraine, Pope Leo XIV reminds us to sacrifice by fasting and dedicate our prayers to call upon Mary, Queen of Peace, to take our prayers to Christ her son, “imploring the Lord to grant us peace and justice, and to wipe away the tears of those who suffer because of ongoing armed conflicts.”
