As we ramp up for Archbishop-designate Mark S. Rivituso’s installation as the Third Archbishop of Mobile there are a few things we hope to make you aware of so that both days will go smoothly for all who plan to attend or watch from home!
-Evening Prayer with Archbishop-designate Rivituso is open to all and will be held at the Cathedral-Basilica of the Immaculate Conception on Sept. 2. Music will begin at 5 p.m. with evening prayer beginning at 5:30 p.m.
-Unfortunately, due to occupancy restrictions of the Cathedral, seating inside will be by invitation only for the Mass of Installation (Sept. 3). While we are unable to accommodate you there, we prayerfully encourage you to join us at the Saenger Theatre where we are offering an in-person viewing of the livestream! Please be aware that the Saenger has a clear bag policy: https://www.mobilecivicctr.com/theatre-security-bag-policy
-Both the Evening Prayer and Mass of Installation will be professionally livestreamed on both the archdiocesan Facebook and YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@CatholicArchdioceseofMobile
To attend the livestream for the Mass of Installation in person, join us at the Saenger Theatre (6 S. Joachim St., Mobile) where all are invited.
-If you plan to join us in celebration on Sept. 3 for the installation, please be aware that parking will be extremely limited. A parking map of downtown Mobile can be found here:https://live-mobilealparking.pantheonsite.io/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Mobile-On-Street-Parking25JAN24.pdf
-There will also be a number of road closures beginning no later than 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 3. The image provided here on this post shows the road closures. In red, those streets will close no later than 7:30 a.m. The streets marked in orange will be open until approximately 30 minutes before the ending of Mass. The Mass of Installation is expected to last anywhere from 2 to 2-1/2 hours. These road closures will allow us to keep everyone safe while we celebrate this exciting and blessed time and we appreciate everyone’s cooperation in advance!
-A reception will be held at the Holiday Inn (301 Government St., Mobile) that is open to the public! Please come and congratulate our new archbishop! This will be open at the end of Mass.
