Transfiguration Catholic Community and Frassati Catholic Academy, in Wauconda, will host a special celebration on Sunday, Sept. 7 in honor of the canonization of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, the school’s patron. The celebration will begin with Mass at 11:30 a.m. at Transfiguration Catholic Church, followed by a reception and student showcase in the Parish Life Center.
Pope Leo XIV will declare Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati a saint, alongside Blessed Carlo Acutis, at St. Peter’s Square in Rome at 3 a.m. CST/(10 a.m. Rome time) on Sunday. This fulfills the dream of Pope Francis to canonize both young men during the Jubilee Holy Year 2025.
