The Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary has been celebrated since the fifth or sixth century. It is told that Mary was destined to bring God’s salvation to the world.
Though the feast is celebrated today, the Roman Catholic Indian community and the diocesan Office of Asian Ministries are hosting a celebration for Our Lady on Saturday, September 13, at St. Michael the Archangel in Glen Allen.
The day will begin with a rosary at 10:15 a.m. and a Mass at 11 a.m., followed by a reception.
