• The feast of the Most Holy Name of Mary is attributed to battle victory after praying for the Blessed Mother’s intercession.⁣

Specifically, this feast was instituted in 1684 after the victory of King John III Sobieski of Poland and the Christian Holy Roman Empire. Before battle, the troops visited the Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa and prayed for the intercession of Our Lady. After winning the battle, Pope Innocent XI gave credit to the Blessed Virgin Mary and instituted the feast of the Most Holy Name of Mary.⁣

On this day, may we remember the powerful intercession of our Blessed Mother in our time of need.
