Halloween didn’t start as a spooky holiday. 🎃
It began as All Hallows’ Eve, the vigil before All Saints’ Day. Instituted by the early Church, October 31 marks the start of Hallowtide, a season when Christians have prayed for thousands of years, honoring the departed and trusting in Christ’s victory over death.
This season, the Church invites us to remember the four last things — death, judgment, heaven and hell — not out of fear, but so we may live with hope and holiness.
As we enter this Hallowtide, may we enjoy wholesome fun rooted in faith, and walk in the new life that Christ gives.
