The National Catholic Youth Conference was a great success! 138 students from our Diocese traveled to Indianapolis and shared in a wonderful experience. Their conference began with the video call with Pope Leo and breakout sessions for Catholic teens. They concluded their first day with Mass celebrated by Fr. Aaron Griffith and concelebrated by Fr. Anthony McFarland & Fr. Hoang Nguyen.
The Saturday morning session focused on the sacraments of service and commitment and also included one of the traditions of NCYC, know as “trade-ables.” Crazy hats, stickers, and clothes pins are the favorites to trade. This is a fun way to meet new people from all over the United States.
Their NCYC pilgrimage ended with the closing liturgy celebrated by Archbishop Nelson Perez of Philadelphia and concelebrated with 25 bishops and 240 priests, including our own Fr. Hoang Nguyen, Fr. Anthony McFarland and Fr. Aaron Griffith. We appreciate the support from parents, students, volunteers, chaperones, priests, and all who made this trip possible for our youth!
