• Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana distributed more than 1,500 turkeys throughout the month of November to registered food distribution clients across the region. This annual effort ensured that area families facing food insecurity were able to enjoy a traditional holiday meal.

“We thank Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana for their tireless work to address food insecurity — not just during the holidays, but all year long,” said Chevron Public Affairs Manager Jeremy Haken. “We’re proud to support Catholic Charities and their mission to serve and comfort our neighbors in need.”

This year’s distribution was made possible through a $25,000 grant from Chevron, whose generosity played a significant role in helping Catholic Charities meet the increased need during the holiday season. Additional funding from the CHRISTUS Community Impact Fund grant and private donations contributed to the purchase of the turkeys.

“We are deeply grateful for the support of Chevron, CHRISTUS and the many private donors who make this tradition possible,” said Sister Marie Josepha Kluczny, RSM, Executive Director of Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana. “In this season of gratitude, their generosity enables us not only to address hunger in our area, it also helps our clients and their loved ones to come together in joy, fostering the bonds of family and community.”

The turkey distribution is part of Catholic Charities’ ongoing effort to provide food for thousands of individuals and families in Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron and Jefferson Davis Parishes. Each month, Catholic Charities distributes food in Bell City, Big Lake, Creole, DeRidder, Elton, Jennings, Kinder, Lake Charles, Sulphur, Ragley and Vinton.

In 2024-2025, Catholic Charities distributed 917,063 pounds of food to individuals and families in need throughout the Southwest Louisiana region.
