Papal Coat of Arms – honors the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary!
Pope Leo XIV has a great devotion to Mary and specifically to the Immaculate Conception. This is evident on his coat of arms. According to Vatican News, the Episcopal Coat of Arms of Pope Leo features a silver fleur-de-lis on a blue background. The fleur-de-lis is a lily – the symbol specifically chosen to represent the Blessed Virgin Mary under the title of the Immaculate Conception – pure and sinless. The blue field evokes “the heights of the heavens.”
