This morning, a ceremonial groundbreaking was held at the Basilica of Ss. Peter & Paul in Lewiston to celebrate an agreement between Prince of Peace Parish and Catholic Charities Maine. Through the agreement, Catholic Charities will lease the former priory adjacent to the basilica and move some of its central operations to the building following renovations.
Bishop James Ruggieri offered prayers and blessed the construction site. Pastor of Prince of Peace Fr. Dan Greenleaf and Catholic Charities CEO Steve Letourneau offered remarks. Mayor of Lewiston Carl Sheline was also on hand.
