• #ICYMI: “This is one of my favorite days of the year. It’s a beautiful story, and the people we get to serve fit into that story in a beautiful way,” Bishop Joseph Williams said about the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Bishop Williams presided at Mass on Friday evening at St. Teresa of Avila Church, HolyCross Parish Church in Bridgeton, which was attended by hundreds of the faithful.

The evening began with skit performed by a young adult group depicting the apparitions of our Blessed Mother to Juan Diago on Tepeyac Hill (Mexico City) on Dec. 12, 1531, where the image of her miraculously imprinted on his tilma (cloak).

Parishioner Alexandra Barrientos, 19, said that it was an honor to portray Our Lady of Guadalupe.

“It’s a very special moment,” Barrientos said. “I don’t have the words to describe the beautiful feelings that I felt being part of this play.”

The Mass, concelebrated by Holy Cross pastor Fr. Matthew Weber and parochial vicar Fr. Ruben Valdes Arias, culminated two days of festivities honoring #OurLadyofGuadalupe.
