Carrying on a tradition that dates back more than four decades, members of Knights of Columbus Council 101 set up a manger scene at St. Joseph Oratory in Portland that was built by a member of the Knights and given to the church in 1981. George Robertson bought the figures for the Nativity scene but created dozens of other pieces for it, including the manger itself, barrels, benches, ladders, carpentry tools, a trough, a wheelbarrow, and more, all to set the scene. He used rocks from Scarborough Beach, wood from his backyard, and an old ping pong table for the base.
