The Chrism Mass, held during Holy Week, is when the bishop blesses the holy oils and consecrates the chrism that are used in various moments in the life of the Church for the upcoming year. The oils are used in baptism, confirmation, ordination of priests and bishops, and the consecration of churches and altars. Also at the Chrism Mass, priests renew their priestly promises which they made at their ordination.
