The Allentown Fire Department graciously helped in putting up the black bunting outside of the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena in mourning for the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis.
Funeral ribbons are used to mark the end of a pope’s reign and as a symbol of mourning for the Catholic Church and its followers. The ribbons are a visual reminder of the loss and a way to express grief and respect for a deceased pope.
