• Paying respects…

Late Thursday Fr. Zachary Galante of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee visited St. Peter’s Basilica where Pope Francis’ body lays in state.

“Dear friends of Milwaukee: Those of us from Milwaukee studying and working in Rome are saddened with you on the death of His Holiness, Pope Francis. The mood in Rome is mixed between the sadness of mourning and the frantic activity of the weeks ahead. People from all over the world were here to celebrate the Jubilee, the Feasts of Easter, and the now-postponed canonization of Bl. Carlo Acutis. Last night, I went to pay my respects to the Holy Father who is lying in state in the Basilica of St. Peter. The lines vary a bit depending upon the time of visit. When I was there, they were very long, taking nearly three hours to get up close to pray before the body of Pope Francis. We entered through the Holy Door and had a very brief moment to pray as we walked past his body. Then I asked the guards to spend some more time in prayer there. I offered a rosary for the repose of Pope Francis’s soul on behalf of the people of Milwaukee.”
