We are excited to share that St. Benedict Catholic School has selected Elberta native Kai Lopez to be principal for the 2025-2026 school year! Mr. Lopez is well known in Catholic education in Baldwin County having served at both Christ the King Catholic School and St. Michael Catholic High School since 2018. Kai has been a teacher, driver’s education instructor, director of transportation and multi-sport coach with increasing responsibility in the archdiocese.
Dr. Kathy McCool, for whom we are ever grateful for her leadership as principal, will help welcome Kai to the St. Benedict family and be a resource and mentor as he begins. Kai is currently earning a master’s degree in instructional leadership from the University of West Alabama and has his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Alabama in physical education. Mr. Lopez attended Pensacola Catholic High School, graduating in 2011.
Kai and his wife Jessica have two girls, Palmer and Hensley, and a son on the way in July. They are all excited to be a part of the St. Benedict family.
