“Without a doubt, I am most looking forward to my priestly ordination in order to celebrate the Sacraments, especially the Holy Eucharist, Confession, and Anointing of the Sick. The summer I spent in Seminary as a hospital chaplain gave me the opportunity to visit hundreds of patients and to be with them in their pain and fear, but not being an ordained priest, it pained me that I could not give them the spiritual healing of Confession and Anointing. Likewise, my time as a deacon has greatly increased my desire to celebrate the holy sacrifice of the Mass, to enter into Jesus’ saving gift of the Eucharist, and to provide Him to my future parishioners. I look forward, with humility and awe, to receiving and giving my priestly ordination.” – Deacon Josh Zelden
Deacon Josh will be ordained to the priesthood on June 14, 2025, at St. Joseph Cathedral. The ordination will be live-streamed on our diocesan Facebook and through CatholicLife TV’s channels (Cox 15, Roku, FireTV, YouTube, Facebook and their website).
