It was a glorious day today for the parish community of Sacred Heart Parish in Port Arthur as they celebrated their 110th anniversary of the founding of the parish. Bishop Toups celebrated Mass and was joined by pastor Father Anthony Afangide, MSP, Father Michael Thompson, SSJ, native of the parish, and Father Ambrose Akinwande, MSP, Regional Superior of the Missionaries of St. Paul. One of the highlights of the day was recognizing those parishioners who were 90 years and older, the oldest in attendance being 99. The afternoon program also included songs, trivia and recognition of those who attended Sacred Heart School. Congratulations to Sacred Heart for celebrating 110 years of Catholic ministry in Port Arthur.
