Today is the feast day of St. Mary Magdalene, a follower of Jesus during his earthly ministry, death, and resurrection.
There is much debate over Mary’s history before she met Christ, however, what scripture does make clear is that she had several demons cast out of her, after which, she began to follow Jesus. She was often with the disciples and a group of women who support Jesus’ ministry. (Luke 8:2-3).
Mary followed Jesus on the way of the cross and was one of the first to see him after his resurrection (John 20:11-18).
She is the patron of repentant sinners, hairdressers, perfumeries, pharmacists, and contemplative life.
St. Mary Magdalene, pray for us!
