Did you know the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s Grief Ministry supports the families of homicide victims in Baltimore City? Each week, volunteers shop for fresh groceries and fill care packages with nonperishable items from the pantry at Holy Cross Catholic Community of South Baltimore in Federal Hill. Advocates drop the care packages off to the grieving families using reusable grocery bags that the ministry always seems to be running low on. Thanks to the students at Maryvale Preparatory School, Loyola Blakefield and Mount Saint Joseph High School, we just received a big donation of 500 bags that should last us the rest of the year. This special ministry is possible through the big and small contributions of so many people that demonstrate the ways the Church is alive and at work in Baltimore as the faithful show the love we have for our brothers and sisters in Christ, our compassion for their suffering and the healing presence of our Lord.
