• READ: BISHOP BOYEA’S LENTEN VISIT TO LUMEN CHRISTI CATHOLIC SCHOOL: Here are some images of Bishop Earl Boyea’s Lenten visit today to Lumen Christi Catholic School in Jackson where he offered Holy Mass before doing a Q&A with senior students.

“In my third year of being able to witness Bishop Boyea celebrate Mass with the students, you quickly realize how much he enjoys the students and that his first passion is being with, and mentoring, our youth,” said school principal, Ben Learned, April 8.

“He takes the time with the seniors after Mass to allow them to get a glimpse of what post-high school life is like through his lens.”

Lumen Christi Catholic School was established in 1968. It currently has 450 students, Grades 7-12. Like all Diocese of Lansing high schools, Lumen Christi has a full-time chaplain, Father Miguel Colunga. The motto of the school is “Hold Fast to Christ”.

Since 2020, Lumen Christi has been a constituent part of the Jackson Catholic Schools district in partnership with Queen of the Miraculous Medal School; Saint Mary School; and Saint John School.

The mission of Jackson Catholic Schools is “to joyfully cultivate God’s goodness, beauty, and truth. Through our Catholic faith, we share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, grow in virtue and intellect, and form our students to lead and serve our communities as saints.”
