Today we honor Saint Stanislaus, a courageous bishop and martyr whose unwavering faith continues to inspire believers around the world. Born in Poland around 1030, Stanislaus became Bishop of Kraków and quickly stood out for his deep compassion, spiritual leadership, and bold defense of moral truth.
In a time when speaking out against injustice could cost everything, Stanislaus confronted King Bolesław II for his cruelty and corruption. His fearless stand for righteousness made Stanislaus a target, and, in 1079, he was martyred during Mass — a shocking moment that would echo through Polish history. He is remembered as a man of God, as well as a symbol of conscience and courage in the face of tyranny.
Canonized in 1253, Saint Stanislaus is the patron saint of Poland and Kraków, a powerful intercessor in times of struggle.
