• “Take up your cross and follow after Christ.”

This morning, Bishop Joseph A. Williams celebrated Passion (Palm) Sunday and the beginning of Holy Week with the families of Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Collingswood.

As the Church prepares to mark the Lord’s Paschal Mystery, Bishop Williams exhorted all gathered in Saint John’s Church to accept the invitation of Saint Gregory Nazianzen to “be sacrificed with Christ,” and offer up our lives “for the sake of His body, which is the Church.”

Looking ahead to the upcoming celebrations and services of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday, the Bishop urged all to “live this week differently,” confident in the knowledge that although “once we were slaves, now because of Jesus Christ, we are free.”
