• Tenebrae services are planned for tonight at the Basilica of Ss. Peter & Paul in Lewiston, Holy Family Church in Greenville, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Windham, and St. Catherine of Sienna Church in Norway. Another will be held on Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church in Yarmouth. A tradition during Holy Week, Tenebrae services include Scripture and chants that reflect upon the Passion of Christ. Tenebrae means “shadows” or “darkness” and what often distinguishes a Tenebrae service is the extinguishment of candles until only one candle, the Christ candle remains lit.
