On April 30, students from our diocese’s three high schools participated in the 4th annual Catholic Faithful Citizenship Day at the Louisiana State Capitol in Baton Rouge. Organized by the Louisiana Conference of Catholic Bishops, this event aims to educate on Catholic social teaching and legislative advocacy.
The day began at St. Joseph Cathedral Parish Hall, where participants gathered before processing to the Capitol. Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to learn about the bishops’ work with the legislature, discuss key issues, and develop relationships with legislators.
This experience allowed our students to witness the intersection of faith and public life, emphasizing the importance of active citizenship informed by Catholic values.
