Students display engineering prowess
WEST PALM BEACH | The STEM club from St. Luke Catholic School, A Notre Dame ACE Academy in Palm Springs participated April 12 in the 38th annual Engineer It! Competition at the Cox Science Center and Aquarium in West Palm Beach. The club is under the guidance of Robert Bacchus, a Notre Dame STEM teaching fellow, and Ed Harkins, St. Luke’s STEM teacher.
Twenty St. Luke students in grades one to six represented their school in the engineering design competition for grades one to 12 jointly presented by the Florida Engineering Society and Cox Science Center and Aquarium. The STEM club (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) competed in events such as Drop It, Fly It, Build It, Clean It and Power It. St. Luke fourth-grader Frankie Moro earned third place in the elementary Fly It competition.
