“Thank you very much. I am very humbled by this recognition,” Bishop Dennis J. Sullivan said at the Henry E. “Hank” Tyner Memorial Council Chambers at Atlantic City’s City Hall.
The city honored our bishop emeritus on the occasion of his retirement, recognizing his years of service to the people of Atlantic City.
Bishop Sullivan told the council and all present that none of his accomplishments in Atlantic City would be possible without the priests of Atlantic City. “The bishop walks on the feet of the priests,” he said. “And that’s what I was able to do.”
He expressed gratitude to the priests present: former pastors Monsignor William Hodge and Father Patrick Brady, current pastor of Parish of Saint Monica, Father Kevin Mohan, and future pastor in Atlantic City, Father Robert Hughes, Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia of the Diocese.
