• On July 30, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops hosted the National U.S. Pilgrim Gathering, with the support of the Knights of Columbus, at the Papal Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls in Rome. The evening event was part of the Jubilee of Young People taking place July 28-Aug. 3.

Auxiliary Bishop Italo Dell’Oro of Galveston-Houston was among the eight U.S. archbishops and bishops who attended the gathering, where Bishops Robert E. Barron of Winona-Rochester gave the keynote address and Edward J. Burns of Dallas presided and preached at the Holy Hour. Over 4,000 pilgrims from the United States were present, including more than 300 from Galveston-Houston parishes and ministries, who are attending the Jubilee in Rome.
