I heard Mother Dolores, a.k.a. Dolores Hart, speak at the Eucharistic Congress one year. She is often known as the “nun who kissed Elvis.” She had a promising career in film and has the notoriety of being cast opposite Elvis Presley in his first movie. But all that changed when she responded to God’s call and entered formation for religious life.
She said her response to God’s call wasn’t easy. But as time continued on, she knew that her response would bring her true joy.
Mature disciples say yes to God every day, even if that yes will bring hardship and include a heavy cost. Stewardship calls us to stop counting the cost. Each day brings with it a new opportunity for God to place a calling on our hearts.
Mary one day so long ago said yes to just such a call. And her “yes” changed the entire history of the human race. Who knows what your next “yes” might mean for the world?
