On this Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time, our readings challenge us to embrace a courageous and transformative faith. We hear of Jeremiah’s perseverance in suffering and are called to run the race of faith with our eyes fixed on Jesus. Jesus’ words about setting the “earth on fire” and division remind us that following Him can lead to challenging choices and opposition for the sake of the Gospel. Let us pray for the strength to live out this purifying fire of Christ in our lives, trusting in God’s deliverance amidst trails.
