Today, August 21, we celebrate the memorial of Saint Pius X, who is remembered for his profound efforts “To renew all things in Christ.” Saint Pius X encouraged frequent reception of Holy Communion for all the faithful and lowered the age of First Communion to the age of reason. He also championed the reform of sacred music, began formulating a Code of Canon Law, compiled a clear catechism for doctrinal formation, and protected the integrity of the faith against Modernism.
