The annual African Festival, a celebration of faith, culture, and friendship, drew hundreds to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland on Saturday, August 23. The festival included Mass celebrated by Bishop James Ruggieri, which featured hymns sung by an African choir, followed by a gathering in Guild Hall, where people enjoyed music, dancing, and lots of homemade dishes from different African countries. The festival raised money for the Sacred Heart Food Pantry and for Catholic education at Sacred Heart / St. Dominic Parish in Portland.
