• St. Augustine lived an immoral life before converting to Christianity at age 33. He was renewed in his faith by the teachings of St. Ambrose and his mother, St. Monica, whose feast day was celebrated yesterday.

      In his writing, “Confessions,” he said that it was God who transformed him. He became a priest at 36 and was later elected bishop at 41.
