• Read the last heart-felt testimony for this summer’s Totus Tuus missionaries by Kaden Harvie.

As I reflect upon my experience as a Totus Tuus Missionary, I only can think of one sentence to succinctly describe my summer:

It was the best thing I’ve ever done.

Giving myself to others and the mission was the most freeing experience I’ve felt in my life.

I could talk about the practical skills that I developed over summer, like public speaking, leadership, and being able to think quickly on my feet, but philosophical takeaways left an impact on me that will abide with me for the rest of my life. Living a schedule entirely depending on and focusing on others was very foreign to me at first, but it required me to truly trust in God’s providence and surrender to His will.

I learned that — funny enough — prayer works, and by the end of the summer, I felt invincible to any circumstance thrown my way with the trust that it would all be okay in the end… and it was. I also feel like I really learned the value of socialization, and it was so humbling to see directly how the energy and light I brought affected those around me. As I return to my final year as a student-athlete in college, I’m so grateful to be able to take everything I gained from my experience as a Totus Tuus Missionary to my team, friends, and classmates.

In every Church across Wyoming where I was blessed with the opportunity to speak, I said that one of the three guarantees of the week would be learning what it’s like to be Totus Tuus — Totally Jesus’. I’m filled with gratitude that I can confidently say I learned what it’s like to live Totus Tuus, and there’s no other way I want to live going forward.
