Today we celebrate the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. On this day, we honor the birth of Mary to her parents, Joachim and Anne. To Joachim and Anne, Mary was the answer to their prayers, as tradition notes that Sts. Joachim and Anne were unable to have a child.
Mary’s birth is an important part of God’s plan to redeem the world as she was saved from original sin as part of God’s plan to send the savior.
We give thanks for Mary’s birth and her role in salvation history. Take some time to pray to Mary giving thanks for her example in saying “yes” to God and asking for her intercession.
