Yesterday, the second Blue Mass in the Diocese of Portland this fall was celebrated at St. Mary’s of the Visitation Church in Houlton. Each year, the Blue Mass honors all law enforcement and first responders for dedicated service and self-sacrifice.
“My dear brothers and sisters in public service, your work is not only practical, it is deeply moral. You are guardians of peace and protectors of life. Because of your service, our communities are safe enough for families to flourish, for children to grow, for charity to be practiced, and for us to gather freely to worship. What a gift! What a gift we have!” -Bishop James Ruggieri
