• The annual Red Mass for members of the legal profession (judges, lawyers, public officials, law faculty, and law students) will be celebrated at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in downtown Houston. All are welcome who wish to receive blessings at the opening of the 2025 judicial year.

The Red Mass tradition dates from the 13th century. It is named for the red vestments worn by the priest-celebrants and the scarlet robes worn by the Lord High Justices. Liturgical red is proper for a votive Mass of the Holy Spirit and symbolizes a willingness to defend the truth.

The Mass will be immediately followed by a ticketed dinner at the Cathedral Centre with Archbishop Vasquez and Cardinal DiNardo. Tickets for the dinner can be purchased online at http://www.archgh.org/redmass.
