On this Twenty Ninth Sunday of Ordinary Time Jesus tells a powerful parable about the importance of persistent prayer. A widow, seeking justice, repeatedly pleads with an unjust judge who finally grants her request because of her persistence. Jesus teaches us to pray without growing weary, trusting that God, who is infinitely just and loving, hears our cries and will answer our deepest longings. As we continue to celebrate the Jubilee Year of Hope, we remember the power that Sacred Scripture has to bring hope to the world, as our world is in so much need of hope today.
Reflection: Who are the people in your life most in need of hope? Who among them might be open to an invitation to come hear the Gospel’s message of hope?
