“Every defense of life, every act of mercy, every prayer for the unborn is a way of saying, ‘My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord.'” – That was Bishop James Ruggieri’s message during a Pro-Life Mass celebrated at Our Lady of Wisdom Church, located at the Newman Center in Orono. The Mass, which concluded with a eucharistic procession around the UMaine campus, marked the conclusion of Respect Life Month. Following the Mass, Respect Life Awards were presented to three individuals and a couple. Lexi Hikel from St. Paul the Apostle Parish won the youth award. Ryan Young, a UMaine student, won the young adult award. Ruth Rogers, also from St. Paul the Apostle, won the adult award. And Charlie and Courtney Bougie from Windham were honored for their work as the Knights of Columbus pro-life couple. Congratulations and thank you for the work you do!
