• Today we celebrate Saint Martin of Tours, a soldier-turned-disciple whose life reminds us what it looks like to let compassion interrupt our plans. As the story goes, Martin met a poor man shivering in the cold. Instead of walking past, he stopped, cut his cloak in two, and gave half to the man. That night, Christ appeared to him wearing that same piece of cloak.

St. Martin teaches us that mercy is not something we “feel” so much as something we do. Grace often comes when we allow ourselves to be “interrupted” so that we notice others, slow down, and give from what we have.

Lord Jesus, let us see you in those who cross our path today. Teach us to give with joy and to love with courage.

St. Martin of Tours, pray for the people of the Diocese of Cheyenne, and throughout the world!
