• 🇺🇸 Did you know Veterans Day has Catholic roots?

Today, we pause to honor the men and women who have served our nation in the U.S. Military. They remind us that the freedoms we enjoy come at a price – one that was paid for with courage, sacrifice, and love.

But as Catholics, we see in their service a reflection of Christ’s own self-giving love – a willingness to go beyond yourself in service of others.

In the latest issue of Bayou Catholic, we reflect on what this day means for people of faith – from St. Martin of Tours, the French soldier-turned-saint whose feast we celebrate today, to the Catholic chaplains who earned the Medal of Honor through selfless acts of heroism, and to the veterans who are back at home with us.

To all Veterans, we’re proud of you and we’re praying for you! ❤️🤍💙
