Saint Kateri is known for her unwavering faith and courage.
She lost her family to smallpox at age four; the virus left her with terrible scars and nearly caused her to go blind. She was baptized into the Catholic Church at age 20 after hearing Jesuit missionaries preach. She took the name Kateri, after Catherine of Siena.
St. Kateri was the first Native American saint, and we ask for her intercession as we continue to celebrate #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth.
