Please join in praying for the repose of the soul of Sister Kathleen Thornton, RSM, a member of the Sisters of Mercy who died November 12 at the age of 88. Sister Kathleen entered the Sisters of Mercy in Portland in 1954. She was known for having the gift of music and, after teaching elementary school for several years, became the music supervisor for parochial schools in Portland, South Portland, and Westbrook. Sister Kathleen also gave private piano lessons, composed music, and sang in the Portland Symphony Orchestra Choir. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, November 20, at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland. https://portlanddiocese.org/obituaries
