There is still time for the faithful to participate in local pilgrimages as we near the end of the Jubilee Year of Hope. Make plans to visit one or more of the six designated pilgrimage sites in the Diocese of Lake Charles before the Jubilee Year of Hope draws to a close locally on Dec. 28th. It will conclude on January 6, 2026, when the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica is closed.
In a Decree issued on December 1, 2024, Bishop Glen John Provost designated four pilgrimage churches and two pilgrimage holy sites in the Diocese of Lake Charles. They are:
* Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Lake Charles
* Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Lake Charles
* Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, Sulphur
* Parochial Shrine of Our Lady of LaSalette, Sulphur
* Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Jennings
* Diocesan Shrine of Our Lady Star of the Sea, CameronPilgrims who visit any of the designated sites in the Diocese of Lake Charles may obtain a special plenary indulgence, either for themselves or for the souls in Purgatory.
