Thanks to Sr. Jean Rhoads, D.C. for getting these pictures of the Alaska Federation of Natives convention in October, which saw 250 tables of handcrafted goods, including kusbuk, beaded jewelry, moose-skin gloves, wood-carved masks, paintings, and more. Several parishioners in the archdiocese ran tables as well, such as Renee Nicholson, who makes kuspuks; Theresa Mike, who does beadwork; Audrey Armstrong, who makes parkas; John Oscar, who does painting; and Maury Tanner, who does beading.
Please keep Alaska Native people in your prayers! And please participate in our Native Ministry events, such as our Kateri Circle and special Native Masses. On November 22, please attend a special 5:30 Mass on the Feast of Christ the King at St. Anthony parish in Anchorage, where a new eagle feather will be blessed and attached to the archdiocese’s Alaska Native cross.
