Thank you to Prince of Peace Parish Maine for sharing about the DWELL Retreat!
On Saturday, November 22, teens from across the diocese gathered at the Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul for a full-day retreat as Pilgrims of Hope. With the theme “DWELL: Finding Sanctuary Within,” our teens were challenged to put aside phones, homework, chores, and the daily grind—and they did not disappoint.
Through talks, games, small-group conversations, and even a little Celine Dion on the piano, the day became a real encounter with the God who calls each of us to more—a life shaped by grace, identity, and purpose.
We were blessed to welcome the Children of Mary from Ohio for powerful vocation talks, and Fr. Erin Donlon, who spoke directly to the young men about listening for the “quack”—the unexpected ways God speaks in daily life.
A highlight of the day was our keynote speaker, Bishop Ruggieri, who joined us not only for the 4:00 PM Vigil Mass of Christ the King, but for over eight hours—laughing, listening, witnessing, and being present with our teens. His keynote, Withstand, sent them out as missionary disciples ready to meet the world with courage and faith.
During Adoration, Bishop Ruggieri, Fr. Daniel Greenleaf (Rector), Fr. Divine Fossoh (Youth Ministry Chaplain), and Fr. Gabriel Odin, OP, heard confessions while Joseph Moreshead from Parish of the Holy Eucharist filled the Basilica with the beautiful sound of the Casavant organ. Grace and mercy were overflowing, and our teens were fully present.
Thank you to everyone who made this pilgrimage such a powerful moment in this Year of Hope. Please keep our teens in your prayers as they continue to seek the quiet voice of God within.
