• For the first time in several years, a six-foot-tall crucifix is back in the garden outside the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland. The corpus on the cross suffered damage to Christ’s foot and side, and finding a foundry that could repair the cast zinc image proved difficult. But, the Green Foundry in Eliot was able to do the work, and members of the Diocesan Construction Company reattached the figure of Christ to the cross on Monday. It is believed that the crucifix dates to the late 19th or early 20th century.
